Terms & Conditions of Membership

The reader (hereinafter called the “Member”) applies for Membership in, and agrees to purchase electric energy from Pioneer Rural Electric Cooperative, Inc. (hereinafter called the "Cooperative") upon the following terms and conditions:

  1. The Applicant will complete a Membership Application which, if this Application is accepted by the Cooperative will constitute the Membership Agreement, and a security deposit if applicable will be collected which is determined by a Score Report through an independent vendor.
  2. The Applicant by becoming a Member, assumes no personal liability or responsibility for any debts or liabilities of the Cooperative, and it is expressly understood that under the law his/her private property cannot be attached for any such debts or liabilities.
  3. The acceptance of this Application by the Cooperative shall constitute an Agreement between the Member and the Cooperative, and the Contract for Electric Service shall continue in force so long as the Member has need for electric service and can be served by this Cooperative.
  4. The Member will, when Electric Energy becomes available, purchase from the Cooperative all Electric Energy used on the premises and pay therefore monthly at the appropriate rate schedule as fixed by the Board of Trustees of the Cooperative.
  5. The Member will have his/her premises wired in accordance with the required wiring specifications and have it approved by an authorized wiring inspector.
  6. The Member shall comply with the provisions of the Articles of Incorporation and Code of Regulations of the Cooperative and with Rules and Regulations which may be adopted by the Cooperative.
  7. When electric service is no longer needed by the member, the membership status will become inactive
  8. The Member herby agrees that $3.60 of the amount paid for electricity each year is for a subscription to the Country Living magazine.
  9. The Member grants the Cooperative the right and easement over any part of the premises in which the Cooperative provides electric energy on behalf of the Member. The right and easement is to install, maintain, repair and remove any part of the Cooperative’s electric and/or communication system for the purpose of providing electric service applied for.

It is understood by the Member that all equipment installed on or about the premises in which the Cooperative provides electric energy is the property of the Cooperative. The Cooperative’s agents and employees are authorized to enter upon the premises to inspect, disconnect, reconnect and/or remove equipment of the Cooperative.
