Co-op Owners for Political Action - COPA

For over 30 years, the Action Committee for Rural Electrification® (ACRE®) has been working to support candidates for the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives who understand and advocate on behalf of the value of electric cooperatives and their consumer-owners. With the addition of cooperative members through Co-op Owners for Political Action® (COPA®) the PAC is now more than 30,000 strong.

Together we will continue to fight for a viable environment for electric cooperatives and the quality of life they bring to our community.

Rural electric system employees and consumers need representatives in Congress who understand the important issues affecting rural electric cooperatives and who will fight for rural electric consumers. ACRE® was organized to support only the political candidates – those in Congress now and running for Congress – who will speak for and protect the interests of rural electric consumers and their cooperative electric systems.

In 2010, Pioneer and it’s member-owners were named the ACRE® Electric Cooperative of the Year for growing its ACRE® participation to over 550 members. Nationally, Pioneer ranks 3rd in percentage of its membership that participates in ACRE®. In 2011, Pioneer was awarded the “Walking the Wood” award at the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association’s (NRECA) annual meeting.
