Pioneer Electric Cooperative’s offers the Energy Bike program to schools and other groups interested in learning about energy efficiency, energy conservation, and renewable energy. Participants can hop on the energy bike and pedal to experience the amount of energy it takes to light incandescent, compact fluorescent (CFL), and light emitting diode (LED) bulbs. Students play the “Energy Relay” game to talk about the different sources of energy used to create electricity and learn how energy is transformed through the "Human Power Plant" demonstration. The students also learn about the value of energy efficiency and conservation to help save energy and money on utility bills as well as actions they can individually take to help prolong the natural resources used to create electricity for future generations. If you are interested in bringing the Energy Bike program to your school, please contact your Energy Advisor.
