Electrical Safety Demonstrations

Electricity enriches our lives every minute of the day. Since just about anything we do in our daily lives involves electricity, learning about electrical safety is a must! Safety is a core value at Pioneer, and we would like to share this with our members and the public. We have experts at Pioneer who give electrical safety demonstrations to schools, employees, firemen, first responders and organizations. Electricity is something that most of us could not do without and our presentation will explain and demonstrate how to remain safe around electricity. We have two demo units, a tabletop unit and a life-size unit. Both units demonstrate the following:
How amperage and voltage work - What conductors and insulators are
- How electricity affects the human body
- The training involved to become a lineman
- The Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), tools and equipment required to do a job safely
- The hazards generators can pose when not installed properly
- The dangers of pulling meters
- The dangers of water and electricity
- Why you should always treat a line as energized until a power company representative tells you it is safe
- The importance of “scene size up”
- Everyday items can be conductors of electricity
- Step potential
- Animal-related outages
Tabletop demonstration:
- Performed with a model of a house, street and power lines
- An energized model is used showing what can happen if a car, kite, or person comes in contact with electricity
- Approximately 50 people can see the demonstration -- depending on how the room is set up, more may be included
- Great for small groups and single classroom school demonstrations
- Demonstrations are fun and interactive for children and adults
- Program runs 30 to 45 minutes depending upon specific needs or interests, age group, and follow-up questions
- For more information or to schedule a demonstration,
contact our Marketing Department.
Life size unit demonstration:
- Unit is 12’ tall, 40’ long and 12’ wide
- Must connect the unit into a panel to supply it with 120 volts either at your location or one of the Pioneer offices in Piqua or Urbana
- Presentation will be geared toward the group we are presenting it to; examples are first responders, farm bureau or schools
- Video presentation will be shown for first responders and lasts approximately 20 minutes; it explains the hazards electricity can pose and how to deal safely with it
- Power point presentation discusses how an electrical system works, the dangers of that system, and how Pioneer responds to emergency calls; lasts approximately 30 minutes
- Total program lasts just under two hours
- For more information or to schedule a demonstration,
contact our Operations Department.
A Pioneer employee performs both demonstrations. Age appropriate literature will be passed out to the audience. There is no charge for either presentation. The return on your investment of time is priceless as it may SAVE A LIFE!
