In addition to participating with a radio-controlled switch, there are many ways you can help reduce peak demand:

  • Pay close attention to your electric consumption any time temperatures are extremely cold—usually during the peak hours of 5 to 9 p.m. and 6 to 10 a.m.
  • Turn your thermostat down a few degrees in the winter.
  • Turn off lights in unoccupied rooms.
  • Delay a shower or bath for a while.
  • Cut back on your use of washers, dryers, ranges, dishwashers and as many other appliances as possible during peak hours.
