Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees and county boards are elected by YOU! In order to ensure Pioneer is well managed and monitored, a system of boards and elections has been established. Territory serviced by Pioneer is divided geographically into three voting districts as follows:

Champaign County District covers territory in Champaign, Madison, Union and Logan counties.
Miami County District covers Miami, Montgomery and Clark counties.
Shelby County District includes Shelby, Auglaize, Mercer and Darke counties.

Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees establishes the basic business policies of Pioneer, represents your interest in the Cooperative and employs a President/CEO who is responsible to them for all the operational procedures at Pioneer. There are nine members of the Board of Trustees—three from each district. The Board members are elected each year prior to Cooperative Spirit Day (by secret ballot). Each trustee is elected to a three-year term and may be re-elected to up to six additional consecutive terms. One trustee is elected each year from each of the three districts. Your Board of Trustees meets regularly, the last Tuesday of each month, at Pioneer’s Piqua office. Individual members may attend, but you are asked to please contact the office prior to the meeting date of your intention to be present.

County Boards

Each of the three districts is represented by a group of people called a County Board. Twelve individuals are to serve on each of the boards. Members are elected to a county board from their own district prior to Cooperative Spirit Day. The three-year terms are cyclical according to geographical areas, so four members are elected each year to each board. County Board members may serve up to seven consecutive terms. Presently, the County Board members and their spouses meet with the Board of Trustees, the President/CEO and other Pioneer personnel a few times each year to receive an update on Pioneer’s activities. Prior to Cooperative Spirit Day, the County Boards serve as nomination committees for the Board of Trustees and County Board elections. County Board members also serve as contacts for the general membership. As a Pioneer member, you should feel free to call on the County Board members with your questions, concerns and comments. A list of County Board members for your district is available upon request from the Pioneer office in Piqua.
